Objectives
To provide a life-changing drama education experience that is committed to innovative and indigenous theatre through identifying and developing young acting, directing and writing talent. To foster job creation and to interest new audiences in theatre
Courses offered
1. Full time theatre skills course - duration two years
2. Part time Saturday classes - 09h00 to 12h00
3. Saturday children's classes - 09h00 to 12h00 - for children age
Course content
Part time Saturday classes are an introduction to acting. The Saturday children's classes include acting, singing and writing.
Fees
1. Full time theatre skills - R1700 per annum or R170 per month for 20 months
2. Part time Saturday classes - R70 per month
3. Saturday children's class - free

History
The Market Theatre Laboratory was founded in 1989 by the late Barney Simon and John Kani with seed money from the Rockefeller Foundation. The Laboratory is the Training and Development wing of the Market Theatre.
